This is one of the finest examples of a Clapper Bridge
straddling, as it does, the East Dart River at Postbridge in Devon. The bridge was constructed in the
13/14 century from four large granite slabs, the largest weighing over 8 tonnes,
supported by three granite piers.
This image was taken in the early spring while
the trees were still bare. A storm was brewing ready to chase away the sunshine.
